The "A" word

Up here in Canada, we have had the results of our 2006 Census come out. The lead stories have all talked about the fact that the declining birth rate here almost ensures that in the next few decades all of our population will be replaced through immigration. Facts and figures are all tossed around with the usual gloom and doom predictions and a lot of angst and a sad time is had by all. Elsewhere in the West, it is the same thing. The US, Europe, Japan and other nations have all become preoccupied with low birth rate and our inevitable slide into depopulation.
Every possible reason or non reason has been cited except the one that starts with "A".  Here in Canada there are about 105,000 abortions every year. That is one quarter of all pregnancies in the nation being ended by an unborn child being  legally murdered under the guise of medical treatment.  Hundreds of garbage bags of dead babies off to disposal each day. Little lives snuffed out before they ever got a chance.
I had a nurse friend tell me a story of a nurse friend of hers who was ordered to take a bag of dead babies to the hospital incinerator. While she was making her way down to the basement she heard a faint crying coming from the bag. She summoned assistance as her training and instinct demanded. The result was that the baby ended up in the incinerator anyway and the nurse was fired for not following Doctor's orders. The whole thing was hushed up and the public was never told.
Abortion is murder pure and simple and no amount of legalistic slight of hand will change that. It kills both child and mother. Any woman who has had an abortion who is even slightly honest with herself knows that a part of her died with that child in that operating room. The guilt and shame that follows abortion lives on beyond the social stigmatization of our past because fundamentally everyone knows abortion is wrong. It isn't society pointing the finger that causes the distress and depression but the finger of the carrier of the child pointing back at herself after the fact.
The rest of us sit back and allow it all to happen because we are too afraid to say the "A" word. The fault for all this lies at the feet of the legislators of our nations for taking the easy road out in the name of political expediency. Tthe rest of us are at fault for allowing them to do so.
Shame on us all.
Don't like what I say? Take a hard honest look at the facts and tell me they aren't true.
